GCSE success for Bell Bedgebury International School’s first studentsBell Bedgebury International School, GCSE success, 21 August 2008 Bell Bedgebury International School announced its first set of GCSE results today after opening its doors for the first time last year. Students from fifteen countries followed an intensive, nine-month programme of study to take five or six GCSE subjects in just one year, rather than the normal two year course. Scholarship student Rebeka from Slovenia gained A* grades in all her subjects whilst other students from countries such as Belgium, Korea and Brazil also achieved 100% pass rates with a majority of A*, A and B grades. The school gained a 100% pass rate in Art, a 93% pass rate in English as a Second Language and 80% in Biology and, not surprisingly perhaps, 94% of students gained A* grades in foreign languages. Students will go on to study A-levels at schools such as St Leonards-Mayfield, Wycliffe College in Gloucestershire, Queen Ethelburgha’s in York and the King’s School, Ely. Headmaster Eric Squires said: “I am impressed by the hard work, dedication and enthusiasm of our students who have achieved these outstanding results after less than a year’s study. They thoroughly deserve their success and we wish them well for the future.
