Scholarship opportunities for international students19 February 2010 The Bell Educational Trust has announced the launch of the Frank Bell Scholarship for international students aged 12-17 seeking to build a successful career in the British education system. The scholarship will enable students to attend Bell Bedgebury International School – a British boarding school in the UK for international students. The scholarship is in memory of The Bell Educational Trust’s founder, Frank Bell. Following his experiences as a prisoner of war, where he set up and ran a secret university for his fellow prisoners, Frank Bell founded the Trust with a vision to promote international understanding through the power of education and language learning. Eric Squires, Headmaster of Bell Bedgebury International school commented: "The Bell Educational Trust has a long tradition of supporting international students through scholarships and bursaries. This scholarship gives students from around the world an unrivalled opportunity to learn and grow in the British education system. And with its reputation for excellence in academic and English language teaching, Bell Bedgebury International School provides students with the best possible preparation for the next stage of their academic careers." Bell Bedgebury International School has a track record of preparing international students for the next phase of their education with a third of students on the 2008/09 one-year intensive GCSE programme achieving A or A* grades and students from as far as Kazakhstan, Thailand, Japan and Sweden gaining passes at grade B or better in all their subjects. The Bell Educational Trust is offering annual scholarships for Pre-GCSE, Pre-IB and GCSE programmes. In addition, scholarship applications from students aged 16-17 will be considered for the two year A-level course, which prepares international students for university entrance. Subject to good performance, this scholarship will be awarded for two years. Scholarships range in value from 10% to 75% of the fees and will be awarded to students who best demonstrate, through a personal statement, how a study experience at Bell Bedgebury International School will be valuable preparation for their continued education. Deadline for applications is 16 April 2010. For further information visit www.bedgeburyschool.co.uk/scholarship |
